Disclaimer
Read this one
Most disclaimers exist so a lawyer can point at them later. This one exists because readers of TIMES OF CANNABIS make real decisions in an area where the stakes are legal, medical, and financial at once, and the boundaries of what a news site can responsibly offer need to be stated where everyone can see them.
Cannabis law is not one law
The legal status of cannabis varies by jurisdiction, and the variation is extreme. In some places adult use is lawful and regulated. In others only medical use is permitted, under programs whose rules differ in every detail. In many jurisdictions cannabis remains entirely prohibited, and possession alone carries serious criminal penalties. Rules also differ within countries, between national and regional law, and the two can contradict each other. Laws change quickly, and an article that correctly described the law when published may describe a law that no longer exists.
Nothing we publish is a statement that cannabis is legal where you are. Before acting on anything you read here, verify the current law of your own jurisdiction from official sources or a qualified legal professional. This site is intended for adults, in places where reading about and engaging with this subject is lawful for them, and nothing here should be read as encouragement to break any law.
Not medical advice
We report on medical cannabis research: clinical trials, observational studies, regulatory decisions, and the state of the evidence. Reporting is not medicine. A study we cover may be preliminary, small, unreplicated, or contradicted by later work, and we flag those limits, but no article can weigh your health history, your medications, or your risks.
- Do not start, stop, or change any treatment because of something you read here.
- Do not treat coverage of a condition as a suggestion that cannabis treats that condition.
- Cannabis interacts with medications and is contraindicated for some people, including during pregnancy and for those with certain psychiatric and cardiac conditions.
- Talk to a licensed medical professional who knows your situation. That sentence is the most useful one on this page.
Not legal advice
Coverage of legislation, regulation, litigation, and enforcement is journalism about the law, not advice about your position under it. Whether an activity is lawful for you depends on facts and jurisdictional detail no article can capture. If a decision turns on the law, consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.
Not financial advice
We cover cannabis companies and markets, including earnings, listings, and failures, of which the industry has produced many. Nothing in that coverage is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or to invest in any venture. The sector is volatile and speculative, and anyone considering exposure to it should consult a licensed financial adviser.
Products, mentions, and endorsements
Reporting on a product, brand, or company is not an endorsement of it. We do not verify the safety, quality, legality, or marketing claims of products we mention, and inclusion in an article means only that the product was relevant to the story. Some articles carry clearly disclosed affiliate links, as described in our ownership and funding page; the disclosure changes our revenue, never our judgment, and never converts coverage into a guarantee of anything.
Accuracy and its shelf life
We check our work before publication under the process in our fact-checking policy, and we repair errors under our corrections policy. We still cannot warrant that everything on this site is complete, current, or error-free. In this subject, freshness matters more than in most: statutes are amended, licenses are revoked, studies are retracted, and companies restate their numbers. Check the date on every article, and treat older pieces as a record of their moment.
Third-party content
Where we link to or quote external sources, responsibility for that material rests with its authors. Advertisements that appear on the site are the statements of the advertisers, not of this newsroom, and the separation between the two is absolute, as our advertising page explains.
The sum of it
Use this site to be informed, not to be advised. For law, ask a lawyer in your jurisdiction. For health, ask a medical professional. For money, ask a licensed adviser. For errors in our reporting, ask us, at support@timesofcannabis.com, and we will correct the record.
