North Lincoln Vape Shop Burglarized; $2,000 in Products Stolen

In the early hours of Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Lincoln Vapor, located near North 27th and Fairfield streets, became the latest target in a series of vape shop burglaries plaguing the area. Two individuals, clad in black hooded sweatshirts and carrying backpacks, forcibly entered the store by shattering the front glass door. They absconded with approximately $2,000 worth of vape products before fleeing in a vehicle, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

A String of Similar Incidents

This burglary is not an isolated event. Lincoln has witnessed a troubling pattern of vape shop break-ins over the past year. In July 2023, Lincoln Vapor’s north location suffered a similar fate when burglars used a stolen vehicle to ram the entrance, causing $5,500 in damages and stealing about $1,000 worth of merchandise.

Earlier that month, the same store was targeted, resulting in $8,500 in damages and the theft of $875 in products and cash.

Impact on Local Businesses

The repeated burglaries have taken a significant toll on local vape shops. Tim Goodman, general manager of Lincoln Vapor, expressed his frustration, stating that the constant break-ins make it difficult to sleep, as he’s always anticipating another incident.

The financial burden of repairs and lost inventory is compounded by the emotional strain on business owners and employees.

Police Response and Community Concerns

The Lincoln Police Department is actively investigating these incidents. They have noted that, so far this year, there have been 14 burglaries and three attempted burglaries at nine different vape shops in Lincoln, resulting in approximately $25,000 in damages.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help curb this troubling trend.

The community is on edge, with many calling for increased security measures and more robust law enforcement presence in vulnerable areas. Business owners are also considering additional precautions, such as enhanced surveillance systems and reinforced entry points, to deter future criminal activity.
