Ohio’s first cannabis farmers market draws hundreds of enthusiasts

Hundreds of cannabis enthusiasts flocked to Ohio’s first cannabis farmers market on Sunday, February 18, 2024, in Cleveland. The event, organized by OhioCannabis.com, featured dozens of vendors selling cannabis plants, seeds, accessories, and educational materials. The event also offered speakers and workshops on how to start a legal home grow in Ohio.

OhioCannabis.com is a website that provides information, news, and resources on cannabis in Ohio. The website was founded in 2016 by John Lutz, also known as “Johnny Cannabis”, who is a cannabis activist and entrepreneur. Lutz said that he wanted to create a platform that would educate and empower cannabis consumers in Ohio, especially after the legalization of medical marijuana in 2016 and the decriminalization of small amounts of marijuana in 2019.

Lutz said that he came up with the idea of hosting a cannabis farmers market after attending similar events in other states, such as Michigan and California. He said that he wanted to bring the cannabis community together and showcase the diversity and quality of cannabis products in Ohio. He also said that he wanted to help people learn how to grow their own cannabis legally and safely at home.

Cannabis farmers market offers a variety of products and services

The cannabis farmers market, which was held at Red Space, an event space on Superior Avenue in Cleveland’s Asiatown neighborhood, attracted hundreds of attendees and vendors from across the state. The vendors offered a variety of products and services, such as:

  • Cannabis plants and seeds, which can be legally grown at home for personal use, with a limit of six plants per person and 12 plants per household.
  • Cannabis accessories, such as pipes, bongs, vaporizers, grinders, rolling papers, and storage containers.
  • Cannabis education, such as books, magazines, flyers, and online courses on cannabis cultivation, consumption, and history.
  • Cannabis consulting, such as advice, guidance, and support on how to start and maintain a home grow, how to obtain a medical marijuana card, and how to comply with the state laws and regulations.

The event also featured speakers and workshops on various topics related to cannabis, such as:

  • How to grow cannabis indoors and outdoors, including the best strains, methods, equipment, and techniques.
  • How to harvest, dry, cure, and store cannabis, including the best practices, tools, and tips.
  • How to make cannabis edibles, oils, tinctures, and topicals, including the best recipes, ingredients, and dosages.
  • How to use cannabis for medical and wellness purposes, including the best products, strains, and methods for different conditions and needs.

Cannabis farmers market receives positive feedback and plans to expand

The cannabis farmers market received positive feedback from both the attendees and the vendors, who said that they enjoyed the event and found it informative, fun, and friendly. Many attendees said that they learned new things about cannabis and met new people who shared their passion and interest. Many vendors said that they sold out their products and gained new customers and contacts.

Lutz said that he was happy with the turnout and the response, and that he plans to host more cannabis farmers markets in the future. He said that he hopes to make the event monthly, and to expand it to other cities in Ohio, such as Columbus, Cincinnati, and Toledo. He also said that he hopes to collaborate with other cannabis organizations and businesses, and to attract more sponsors and partners.

Lutz said that his main goal was to show people what they legally can and cannot do with cannabis in Ohio, and to help them make informed and responsible decisions. He also said that he hopes to raise awareness and support for cannabis legalization and reform in Ohio, and to contribute to the growth and development of the cannabis industry and community in the state.
