Trulieve’s Middleburg Store Still Stands Alone in Town

Trulieve’s medical cannabis shop at 1539 Blanding Boulevard is still the only licensed dispensary in Middleburg, Florida. The store opened February 14, 2025, after Trulieve Cannabis Corp. said it wanted a Clay County counter for patients and caregivers.

Orange Park, on the same boulevard a short drive east, already had a dense strip of medical marijuana shops. Middleburg did not. The new door was a west-end fill for people who had been leaving town to refill.

The Only Licensed Shop in Middleburg

The address is 1539 Blanding Boulevard, Middleburg, FL 32068. Walk-in and express pickup both run. The company’s February 11, 2025 release listed Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The live Middleburg page now lists 9 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Directories of Clay County medical shops still show a single Middleburg storefront, and it is this one. Trulieve’s own page calls the shop the most convenient location for western Clay County patients, naming Orange Park, Fleming Island, Green Cove Springs, and Keystone Heights as the service area.

THE MIDDLEBURG OPENING CALENDAR

1. February 11, 2025: Trulieve announces the Clay County store and a Friday grand opening.
2. February 14, 2025: Doors open at 9 a.m. with music, giveaways, and 35% off storewide.
3. February 17, 2025: The company posts a recap of the Middleburg opening and keeps promoting the new door.
4. March 14, 2025: Trulieve is still asking patients who have not visited Middleburg to come in.

On opening day the company streamed from the lot. General manager Maddie welcomed patients on camera, and partner booths from Black Tuna, Bellamy Brothers, and Sunshine Cannabis handed out swag on the pavement.

Blanding Boulevard Already Had a Cluster

Clay County did not lack medical cannabis retail. It lacked it in Middleburg. A Clay County shop directory lists 10 licensed stores in Orange Park and one in Middleburg. Eight of those Orange Park stores sit on Blanding Boulevard, the same road as Trulieve’s new door. Trulieve already had Orange Park, at 342 Blanding Boulevard, before it opened 1539.

CLAY COUNTY LICENSED DISPENSARIES

That map is the point of the Middleburg lease. Patients in western Clay were not driving into a vacuum. They were driving into a 10-shop pile-up around the Orange Park Mall corridor, then driving home. Putting a second Trulieve on the same road, farther west, splits that trip.

Why Western Clay Patients Were Driving East

Middleburg is an unincorporated census-designated place in Clay County, 26 miles southwest of downtown Jacksonville and 16 miles northwest of Green Cove Springs, the county seat. The 2020 Census counted 12,881 people in the Middleburg CDP. It is part of the Jacksonville metro, not a remote farm town, but the retail is thinner than Orange Park’s.

Trulieve’s Middleburg page says the store is about 20 minutes from Jacksonville’s Westside via US-17, and it pitches a less crowded stop for Duval County patients. Delivery already covered Florida, so the company did not need a new roof to drop a bag at a Clay County door. It needed a counter people would actually visit for deals, pickup, and brands that do not travel the same way on a van.

Local patients had been asking for a Middleburg shop for years. A 2020 post from the town put it in one line: they wanted a store here. When the ribbon cut in 2025, the reaction on the company’s own thread was relief that Middleburg finally had a Trulieve, not an argument about whether Florida needed another chain door.

Clay County’s Veteran Share Is 16.5 Percent

The opening release leaned on a veteran offer because Clay County is built for it. U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey estimates for 2023 put Clay County’s veteran population at 27,984 people, or 16.5 percent of residents. Naval Air Station Jacksonville sits just across the county line, and military families are a regular part of the Orange Park and Middleburg housing mix.

Trulieve’s statewide veteran deal is 20% off every order with a military ID. The Middleburg page also tells veterans to bring a DD-214 with their medical marijuana card. First-time guests get a 60% new-customer discount at any Florida Trulieve, which is how a new west-end store converts people who have been shopping the Orange Park strip, or not shopping at all.

The February 11, 2025 statement is the company’s on-the-record case for the store: expand access in Clay County, then serve the people who show up. Access, in this county, meant a door west of the Orange Park crush, with a veteran price already baked in.

Trulieve Holds 170 of 781 Florida Shops

Florida remains medical-only. The Office of Medical Marijuana Use, part of the Florida Department of Health, counted 941,650 patients with active ID cards in its September 18, 2026 weekly update. The same table lists 781 dispensing locations. Trulieve had 170 of them, or 21.8 percent of the state’s doors.

In the week of September 11 through 17, 2026, Trulieve dispensed 108,350,762 milligrams of THC and 50,938.329 ounces of marijuana in a form for smoking. Statewide totals for that week were 415,816,981 milligrams of THC and 148,635.187 ounces. Trulieve’s second-quarter 2026 earnings deck put its share at 35% of Florida’s flower market and 26 percent of oil, and said it sold 56 percent more flower per store than the state average.

FLORIDA DOORS IN THE SEPT. 18 OMMU UPDATE

After the second quarter closed, Trulieve said it had opened Florida stores in Belleview, Boca Raton, Lutz, and Tallahassee, then added Marco Island. Middleburg was already on the map by then. The September 18 OMMU table also lists licensed firms with no dispensing locations yet, so the 781-door count can move. It has not moved into Middleburg.

What the Middleburg Counter Sells

The store carries Trulieve’s in-house line and partner brands the company sells only at its Florida shops. Opening-week traffic got a 35% storewide cut on top of the standing veteran and first-visit offers. The Middleburg page lists cash and CanPay, with an ATM on site.

Several of those brands were on the lot for the Valentine’s Day opening. Florida patients still need a state medical card to buy any of it, and home grow is not allowed for registered patients.

Western Clay County now has a Trulieve it did not have on February 13, 2025. Orange Park still has the strip. As of the September 18, 2026 OMMU roster, no second licensed shop has followed Trulieve into Middleburg, so the west end of Blanding Boulevard still funnels through one door.
