Terms of Service
The agreement in plain language
These terms govern your use of TIMES OF CANNABIS, the news publication at timesofcannabis.com. By reading or otherwise using the site you accept them. We have written them to be readable rather than intimidating, but they are still the rules, and the plain language does not soften their effect. If you do not accept them, the remedy is simple: do not use the site.
Who may use this site
This publication reports on cannabis and is intended for adults. You may use the site only if you are of legal adult age in your jurisdiction and only where accessing information about cannabis is lawful for you. The laws governing cannabis differ radically between countries and between regions within countries, and they change frequently. You, not we, are responsible for knowing and complying with the law that applies to you. Nothing on this site is an invitation to violate any law anywhere.
What this site is not
Times of Cannabis is a news publication and nothing else. We do not sell, supply, ship, advertise for sale by ourselves, or facilitate the purchase of cannabis or any cannabis product. No article, image, or link on this site constitutes an offer of goods by us. Coverage of a product, company, or market is journalism about that subject, not participation in it. Our disclaimer expands on this and on the limits of our content, and it forms part of these terms.
No advice
Nothing on this site is medical advice, legal advice, financial or investment advice, or professional advice of any kind. Reporting on a study is not a recommendation of treatment. Reporting on a statute is not an opinion about your legal position. Reporting on a company is not a suggestion to buy or sell anything. Decisions about health belong with qualified medical professionals, decisions about law with qualified lawyers, and decisions about money with licensed advisers who know your circumstances.
Our content and your use of it
The articles, headlines, graphics, and other original material on this site are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws, and are owned by or licensed to this publication. You may:
- read, link to, and share links to our work freely, since linking is how journalism circulates;
- quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link, in the ordinary manner of fair dealing and fair use;
- use our material in ways any applicable law expressly permits.
You may not republish entire articles, scrape the site for republication or dataset building, remove attribution, or present our reporting as your own. Licensing requests are welcome at support@timesofcannabis.com, and our DMCA and copyright policy describes how we handle infringement in both directions.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site. Misuse includes attempting to breach its security, interfering with its operation, probing or overloading its infrastructure, using automated tools to harvest content or data beyond what our published feeds permit, impersonating the publication or its staff, and using the site to further any unlawful activity, including unlawful commerce in cannabis. We may block access to any user or network engaged in misuse, without notice.
Reader submissions
If you send us tips, letters, or other material, you keep your copyright, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, edit, and archive it in connection with the publication. Send only what you have the right to send. Do not send us confidential information you are not permitted to share; our handling of sources is described in our editorial standards.
Third-party links and content
Our reporting links to external sites: legislative databases, court records, company filings, research journals, and, in disclosed cases, affiliate partners as described on our ownership and funding page. We do not control external sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, legality, or privacy practices. A link is a citation, not an endorsement.
Accuracy, warranties, and the limits of promises
We work hard to get things right, and our fact-checking policy and corrections policy describe how. Even so, the site and its content are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. News about a fast-moving legal and commercial landscape can be true when published and outdated a month later; a dated article speaks as of its date.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, this publication and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the site or your reliance on its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent the applicable law allows. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Indemnity
If your breach of these terms causes a claim against us, you agree to indemnify the publication against the losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that result from that breach.
Changes to the site and to these terms
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time. We may also revise these terms; when we do, the revised version will be posted on this page with its revision date, and material changes will be flagged on the site. Your continued use after a revision takes effect is acceptance of it.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the place of the publication’s establishment, without regard to conflict of law principles, and disputes fall to the competent courts of that place, except where the mandatory consumer law of your residence provides otherwise. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect.
